The award winning Storm Brewing Company was formed in 1998 by partners Hugh Thompson and David Stebbings.
Operating from a former pub on Waterside in Macclesfield - The Mechanics Arms (which closed in 1937) - the brewery produces a range of seventeen different beers. |

David Stebbings
Local lad Dave, a partner in the business and resident DIY expert, enjoys his outdoor pursuits and has had a pivotal guitar playing role in the success of long standing Macclesfield band ‘Dazed and Confused’. If you really want to put his skills to the test ask him to play ‘Bantam Cock’ whilst riding a unicycle…

Hugh Thompson
Known locally as ‘Hugh The Brew’, is co-partner and came into the brewing business from an electronics background. He is currently President of Macclesfield LVA and a founder member and drummer with ‘Dazed and Confused’. It has taken Hugh 35 years to put his Art degree to good use but has finally found an outlet in pump clip design as well as general merchandising for the company!

Patrick Sadelaar
Our very own ‘Flying Dutchman’ – Paddy moved to the UK in the 70’s from his birthplace in Rotterdam and joined us in 2005. Sales aside Patrick is our chief taster and demonstrates his excellent culinary skills during brewery visits with a superb range of savoury delights.

Dexter
Every brewery needs a brewery cat and Dexter is the ‘man’ for the job. Rejected twice by potential owners he joined the staff in 2001 and does not pussyfoot around where vermin are concerned!
